Wall finish · Marmorino

MarmorinoVenetian lime plaster — quiet, luminous, mineral.

Marmorino is the old Venetian wall finish — slaked lime, marble flour and pigment, laid by trowel in five thin coats over two to three days. Light raked across the wall reveals a quiet, silken movement that paint never produces.

Why people choose it

What makes it stand apart.

  • 01

    Lime, slow-set

Genuine slaked-lime binder reacting with CO₂ over weeks — the wall continues to cure long after we leave.

  • 02

    Burnished by hand

Final coat polished with a steel trowel under raking light — the gloss comes from compression, not varnish.

  • 03

    Breathable

    Vapour-permeable, alkaline-stable — won't trap moisture, won't grow mould in damp rooms.

Process

How we install marmorino.

A controlled, on-site sequence — each stage signed off before the next begins.

  1. 01

    Substrate prep

Primed with a mineral primer keyed for lime adhesion. Patches and cracks resolved.

  2. 02

    Base coat

First lime coat thin and grippy — the foundation.

  3. 03

    Build coats

Two to three further coats, each tighter and pigmented to your colour. Trowel marks deliberate.

  4. 04

    Burnish

Final coat polished with a clean steel trowel. The marble flour brings out a quiet sheen.

  5. 05

    Wax (optional)

Light beeswax for satin sheen, or none at all for a chalk-matte finish.

From the work

What our clients say.

Three notes stay in view at once: the lead story, the neighbouring context, and the next surface waiting in the queue.

01

"We had three other contractors quote our penthouse refit. DecoPaint were the only ones who turned up with sample tiles before we'd even signed. The microcement bathrooms came out exactly as we'd hoped."

Mariam K.

Homeowner · Palm Jumeirah, Dubai

Microcement · 110 m²

02

"Our restaurant interiors needed a concrete-texture finish that could handle daily kitchen heat and steam. Three years in, the walls look better than they did on day one. Quiet, professional crew."

Hisham R.

Restaurant owner · DIFC, Dubai

Concrete texture · 240 m²

03

"We brief contractors a lot in our practice. DecoPaint is one of the few we've kept on our preferred list. Tight communication, honest about timeline, and the marmorino finish on our last villa was textbook."

Priya S.

Senior interior designer · Studio in Al Wasl

Marmorino · 8 rooms

04

"Took the day off to be on site, didn't need to. They sent photos every morning, asked the right questions, finished early. The terrazzo lobby is genuinely the best surface in the building."

Omar A.

Building owner · Abu Dhabi

Terrazzo · 380 m²

05

"The pearl finish in our master suite is exactly what I'd been trying to describe to other contractors for two years. They got it the first time."

Lina F.

Homeowner · Arabian Ranches, Dubai

Pearl finish · 4 rooms

FAQ

Marmorino — questions

Don't see your question? Email us — we read every one.

  • Yes, with the right wax-finish protocol. We don't recommend it inside the shower wall itself — for that use microcement.

  • Same family. Marmorino is the matte-to-satin version; the high-gloss 'Venetian' is a related technique called stucco veneziano.

  • Most jobs run 3–6 days on site, plus a 7-day cure window before the surface is in full service.

  • By square metre, all-in: materials, labour, prep and a 5-year warranty. Specialty work is quoted per project.

  • Yes — we bring A5 hand-finished sample tiles to a review meeting at your project, anywhere in the UAE, so you can see each finish in your own light before you commit.

  • Across all seven emirates. Travel and lodging for crew is built into quotes outside Dubai.
